<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 2, 1936 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Nov 2, 1936 at <br />8:00 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Vernon Hetrick, Mgr Co-op Oil Co came before the Council stating that he had received a letter <br />from Fred Ayers, asking him to remove his gasoline truck out of the wooden bldg. on Main Street. <br />After some discussion the Council decided it was a hazardous place for a gasoline truck and asked <br />Mr. Hetrick to put his truck in another place. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm H Greupner, authorizing Chas Nelson to <br />purchase two storm windows for the Pumphouse. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Patenaude to appoint the following judges <br />and clerks for the Village election on Dec 8, 1936. Judges Joe Parker, Frank Nogle, Wm Blocker, <br />Clerks Mrs. Eva Foley and Edna Barrett. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Fred Ayers stated at the previous meeting that he did not care to read the water meters anymore. <br />The question of who to have read the meters was brought up at this time. After some discussion it <br />was decided to have a special meeting the following Monday night to hire someone to read the <br />meters and take care of the waterworks. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Wm Patenaude seconded by Wm Greupner to turn off the two traffic lights <br />on Main Street for the winter months. The Clerk to notify Chas Nelson about this matter. <br /> <br />Monty Bloomdahl, County Commissioner asked to have a street light put in front of the courthouse. <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to have this light put in. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the following bills and <br />ordered them payed. <br /> <br />E.R. Power and Lt Co. – power and lights 241.57 <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent 2.50 <br />Fred Ayers – fire call 13.00 <br />Fred Ayers – saly and labor 46.25 <br />Dan Hjerpe – making ladder and material 47.00 <br />Odegard and Nickerson – gas and battery chg 3.84 <br />Oliver Micheau – nite police 5.00 <br />Chas M Nelson – labor at water tank 21.35 <br /> <br />
