<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 3, 1936 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg store Monday February 3, <br />1936 at 8:00 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of last regular meeting and special meeting of Jan 17 and 27 were read and approved. <br /> <br />The Fire Dept having been called out Jan 24 to Medare Lachances home which is out of the Village <br />limits. The question was brought up, how much the Village should charge for this run. After some <br />discussion it was decided to send a bill to Mr. Lachance for $25.00. <br /> <br />Wm Greupner, Clerk reported that Dan Hjerpe, Village blacksmith had spoken to him about the <br />Ford fire truck recommending to have it rebuilt by cutting down the hose box replace the wooden <br />fender with steep and put on a new windshield. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey, seconded by <br />Geo Cornelius to have Dan Hjerpe go ahead and rebuild the truck providing the cost would not be <br />over $50.00. Motion carried. <br /> <br />At a previous meeting the Library Board requested to have a ceiling light put in the library. The <br />matter was taken up again at this meeting. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm <br />Patenaude to have this light installed. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A letter was read from Earl Darrow Co. Aud. Asking that the Village second in $672.49 to the <br />County at this time. This being the amount the Village promised the County for poor relief. A <br />motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to have the Clerk draw a warrant for <br />$350.00 on the poor fund and send to Mr. Darrow now. The balance of $322.49 to be paid on July <br />st <br />1. Motion carried. <br /> <br />R.R. Latta who was elected justice of peace at the last election presented his bond of $500.00. A <br />motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Geo Cornelius to accept R.R. Latta’s bond and <br />have the same filed with Mr. Guptil, clerk of court. Motion carried. <br /> <br />G.A. Bailey presented a resolution amending the 3.2 non intoxicating malt liquor ordinance <br />amendment reading Discontinue selling beer from 11 P.M. to 6 A.M. on all days except Saturday <br />which will be 12:00 o’clock P.M. until 9 A.M. Sunday. Amendment reading further that the selling to <br />minors be strictly enforced and no spiking or strong liquors to be drank in 3.2 places. After some <br />discussion the matter was layed on the table until a later meeting. G.A. Bailey was instructed to see <br />Frank White Attorney and have him draw up these amendments to they would not conflict with the <br />state laws. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the following bills. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
