Economic Development Authority Minutes Page 2 <br />February 18, 2020 <br />----------------------------- <br /> There were no public hearing items. <br /> <br />7.1 MAEDC Conference Presentation <br /> <br />Ms. Eddy presented the staff report. She noted how Moody’s rating is affected by <br />climate change and discussed mitigation plans related to climate change. She <br />discussed the items that make a community a great place for rural economic <br />development. She stated the city should advocate for more broadband services. She <br />discussed updated marketing materials to coincide with what site selectors are <br />searching. <br /> <br />7.2 Public Art Proposal <br /> <br />Ms. Othoudt presented the staff report. She stated the subcommittee recommended <br />no action and requested more information on the engineering details of the artwork. <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Blesener and seconded by Commissioner Wagner to <br />move this item to the March 16, 2020, EDA agenda. <br /> <br />Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />7.3 Director Report <br /> <br /> Ms. Othoudt presented the staff report. <br /> <br />President Tveite suggested a pre-review of the proposals submitted for the EDA <br />Strategic Plan by a few commissioners and staff. He suggested a special meeting <br />beginning at 4:00 pm. <br /> <br />Consensus was for the subcommittee to narrow down the number of proposals for <br />EDA review. <br /> <br />Commissioner Christianson suggested scheduling some of the BR&E visits for later <br />in the afternoon so more people can attend. <br /> <br />8.
