<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 8, 1941 <br /> <br />th <br />The Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Minnesota, met on the 8 day of May, 1941 at the <br />Village Hall in said Village, at 7:30 P.M. pursuant to notice duly given. <br /> <br />After careful consideration the proposed layout for the improvement of Trunk Highway No. 10 <br />through the business district, especially with regard to the safety factor, the following Resolution was <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Be it resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Minnesota, as follows: <br /> <br />(1) That the ten foot island be extended through the business district to provide safer pedestrian <br />traffic, especially at the intersection of Highway No. 10 and Princeton Street. <br />(2) That a decelerating lane on the north side of Highway No. 10 be constructed to provide <br />greater safety for traffic coming from the East, and desiring to turn north across the railroad <br />tracks of Princeton street. <br />(3) That the street between the village park and the Standard Oil Service Station be widened to <br />provide for two-way traffic and parallel parking on the east side of said park. <br />(4) That provision be made for west bound buses to stop on the west side of the village park, <br />and for east bound buses to stop on the north side of said park. <br />(5) That the grade be widened on the north side of Highway No. 10 through the business <br />district to provide additional parking area for cars and trucks. <br /> <br />Be it further resolved that consideration be given by the State Highway Department for the <br />condemnation and purchase of that tract of land being west of the west village limits o the village of <br />Elk River and south of the newly laid-out Highway No. 10 in section 32-33-26 containing <br />approximately 7.21 acres. This to provide for a roadside park and recreation area, and being an area <br />of outstanding scenic and recreational value. <br /> <br />This being in accord with recent legislation in aid of roadside improvement in the Federal Highway <br />program referred to as H.R. 9575 approved Sept. 5 1940, section 11, subsection C of section 1 of <br />the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1938, (52 stat. 633). <br /> <br />Adopted by the Village Council May 8, 1941. <br /> <br />
