BEREAVEMENT LEAVE <br /> <br />A leave of absence, with pay and fringe benefits may be granted to a regular full-time <br />employee for a maximum of three (3) days in the event of the death of a spouse, child, <br />parent, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, or parent-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in- <br />law, grandparents-in-law, step-parents, step-siblings and step-children. <br /> <br /> <br />61. GENERAL LEAVE <br /> <br />The Utilities recognizes that circumstances of a unique personal nature may cause an <br />employee to seek time off without pay. The Utilities may, at its sole discretion, grant <br />unpaid personal leaves of absence to employees (“General Leave”). Approval is required <br />of the employee’s immediate supervisor and the General Manager before General Leave <br />will be granted. In no event will General Leave be granted for longer than ninety (90) days, <br />unless special approval is received from the General Manager. <br /> <br />Vacation and sick leave will not accrue during a General Leave. Further, the employee on <br />General Leave will not be eligible for holiday pay during the leave. The Utilities will not <br />contribute to the cost of insurance premiums for an employee on General Leave. <br /> <br />Employees are expected to return from General Leave when the reason for the leave <br />expires. Employees who take a General Leave have no right to reinstatement. <br /> <br /> <br />62. VOTING LEAVE; SERVICE AS ELECTION JUDGE <br /> <br />Under Minnesota Statutes Section 204C.04, employees who are eligible to vote in an <br />election to fill a vacancy in the office of United States Senator, United States <br />Representative, State Senator or State Representative, or a presidential primary have the <br />right to be absent from work for the time necessary to vote and return to work on the day <br />of that election without penalty or deduction from salary or wages because of the absence. <br />The Utilities will not abridge or interfere with this right. <br /> <br />The Utilities will provide an employee with paid time off to serve as an election judge, <br />provided that the employee gives the Utilities at least 20 days’ advance written notice. The <br />Utilities will reduce the employee’s pay by the amount the employee is paid to serve as an <br />election judge. <br /> <br /> <br />63. PAID LEAVE DONATION <br /> <br />With the written consent of the Utilities’s General Manager or Finance Manager, <br />employees wishing to do so may voluntarily donate accrued paid leave time that is <br />presently available for use as sick leave by the donor employee to a co-worker who is <br />experiencing a major or catastrophic life event in the form of a medical emergency, loss of <br />136
