E.11 Two-Way Radio Guidelines <br />1.0Two- Way Radio Guidelines <br />A.All of us depend on our two-way radios in our vehicles or on our person to communicate <br />with one another. This communication may be either for routine business or an <br />emergency situation. <br />B.The FCC requires certain procedures when using two-way radios, as follows: <br />1)Channels are shared. Always monitor before keying up transmitter. <br />2)If other transmissions are in progress, wait for them to finish before beginning <br />your own. It is not appropriate to start transmitting or keying up when another <br />party is transitting. <br />3)Always identify yourself and your listener when initiating a transmission (e.g. <br />Station 1 to Unit 2). <br />4)Keep your transmissions to business matters only no horseplay, rude sounds, or <br />foul language. <br />5)Always try to keep your transmission as brief as possible. <br />6)Sign off by identifying yourself with your call sign (e.g. Station 1 over). <br />70 <br />
