<br /> <br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.12 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent December 2, 2019 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Code Enforcement Officer Suzanne Fischer, Community Development <br />Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Timothy Trebesch as Code Enforcement Officer effective <br />December 17, 2019. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />Staff went to market to fill the position vacated when Code Enforcement Officer Dave Hetrick retired. <br />We received 41 applications and offered interviews to 15 candidates. Following second interviews with <br />four candidates, background and reference checks, staff recommends Timothy Trebesch for this position. <br /> <br />Mr. Trebesch has spent most of his career rising through the ranks at Fourteen Foods, a multi-unit owner <br />and operator of 226 DQ Grill & Chill restaurants. He began his career as a general manager eventually <br />holding responsibility for many facets of the business including construction manager for 30 new builds <br />and 20 remodels. He has demonstrated his ability to work with people to achieve results and, in the role <br />play exercise we held during the interviews, was firm yet understanding of fictional resident Joe Snuffy’s <br />code enforcement concerns. <br /> <br />Mr. Trebesch will start at step A of pay grade 3N.
