<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 5, 1939 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday June 5, 1939 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, and Geo Cornelius, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk <br /> <br /> The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Mrs. L.D. Bailey and Elmer Legar representing the Community Club were present and asked the <br />Council to instruct the life guard to warn the girls and boys about pushing off one and other from <br />the raft after some discussion about the swimming pool a motion was made by G.A. Bailey <br />seconded by G.A. Bailey to buy two life preservers and have two new signs made telling about the <br />20 ft drop off and also to buy ropes to put around the boat. Motion carred. <br /> <br />Mrs. Ida Burgoyne came before the Council to see if there was any way she could get a dance permit <br />to operate dances. It was decided not to grant any dance permits at the present time for the reason <br />that in the past it had caused so much disturbances. <br /> <br />L.G. Nelson was also present and stated that the five year contract between his company and the <br />Village in regards to the street lights and pumpking rates expired at this time and asked that the <br />Council pass another resolution for another five year contract. It was decided to table this matter <br />until the next meeting. <br /> <br />Ed Belauger and Ernest Schwaubeck reported that people were dumping garbage on the property <br />next to theirs where Mrs. Nels Nelson formally lived. This garbage has caused such a terrible odor <br />they felt they were forced to complain. The clerk was instructed to see Dr. Rolhlkee, Health officer <br />and have him take care of this matter. <br />Gene Glidden was present and requested the Council to buy a pull____ which he thought was very <br />necessary for any Village to have. The matter was turned over to L.G. Nelson and Geo Cornelius to <br />investigate while they are attending the firemens convention at Sauk Centre and have their report <br />back at the next firemens meeting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow Alfred Steihardt to build a <br />garage at Elm Street between Fifth and Sixth Street. To Chas Geyotel for a garage on his property. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the following bills. <br /> <br /> <br />E.R. Power and Light Co. Light and Power $266.18 <br />N.H. Bell Tele Co. Tele rent $7.10 <br />Miller Davis Co Supplies $3.75 <br />Ethel Lloyd cleaning $1.50 <br /> <br />
