<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 7, 1940 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Oct 7, 1940 at 8 <br />o’clock PM. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Pres; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, Clerk <br /> <br /> The minutes of last meetings were read and approved. <br /> <br />Joe Parker came before the Council asking to have his Doctor bill at Priceton paid. He was told that <br />the Village council not pay any Doctor bills outside the Village so he would have to take care of the <br />four dollar bill himself. <br /> <br />Mayor Tesch reported that his brother Dr. Gordon Tesch had talked to him about Charles M. <br />Nelson in regards to his health and advised that Mr. Nelson take a lay off from his duties for a few <br />weeks. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to grant Chas M. Nelson a <br />leave of absence for thirty day with pay of $110.00 and to hire Dan Hjerpe in his place at the same <br />rate of pay with $25.00 for use of car and $7.50 as janitor. <br /> <br />The Council approved the following members to work on the registration board H.J. Pfeiffer, Mrs. <br />Eva Foley and Wm H Greupner. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to adopt the following budget for <br />the year 1941 – General 6000.00 – R&B – 3000.00 – Poor 800.00 Library 350.00 – Band 2 Mills. <br /> <br />A letter was read from Mr. Haudke, Supt of Schools stating that the warming house cost more than <br />they had figured on at first and was wondering if the Village would appropriate some more towards <br />this project. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by Geo Cornelius to appropriate <br />$25.00 more or $175.00 in all for the warming house. <br /> <br />A letter was read from the Library Board stating that they felt Mrs. Page Librarian should receive <br />rd <br />$.35 an hour instead of $.25 staring Oct 3. A motion was made by Wm. Greuipner seconded by <br />Geo Cornelius to accept the recommendation from the Library board. <br /> <br />th <br />The following judges and clerks were appointed to serve on the General election on Nov 5. Day <br />Judges – JC Anderson, Susan Dare and Pauline Kaliher, Clerks Mrs. Foley and Wm Greupner, <br />Nights – Judges Frank Beck, Herb Baldowsky, Harold Keays, Clerks Alan Dare and HJ Pfeiffer. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A.
