Elk River has 55 manufacturing establishments <br /> providing 1,837 jobs. This accounts for 15.3% of alljobs in the city. From 2017 to 2018 manufacturing <br /> employment grew by 8.5%, or 5 times faster than the overall economy in Elk River. Manufacturing is <br /> crucial to the strength of our economic well-being. <br /> According to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development blog: Central <br /> Minnesota plays to the strengths of supply chains, educational programs, and the specialized skills of the <br /> current workforce in the region, the top ten most concentrated manufacturing subsectors contain 40 <br /> percent of all manufacturing jobs in Central Minnesota. In addition to high job counts, several of these <br /> manufacturing specialties are also high paying,with average annual wages ranging from just over $44,400 <br /> in animal processing to nearly$90,000 in industrial machinery manufacturing. <br /> This year the city will recognize Manufacturing Week with several activities: <br /> ■ A direct mailing went out this week to all the manufacturing companies in Elk River. <br /> ■ Star Nears will feature a quarter-page full color advertisement in a special Manufacturing Week <br /> insert. <br /> ■ The city is replaying the State of Manufacturing video which was made in partnership with the <br /> city, chamber, and school district and will be aired on the EDA's website. <br /> Staff will present a"Manufacturing in Elk River" video. <br /> Financial Impact <br /> N/A <br /> Attachments <br /> ■ Proclamation <br /> The Elk River Vision <br /> A PehoMing community 2a itb revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional POWERED By <br /> service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity INAMIRE1 <br />
