Variance or Appeal of Zoning Decision: <br /> <br />The variance is in harmony with the general purpose and intent of the ordinance. <br /> This property is for institutional use, this sign is to recognize this institution. <br />The variance is consistent with the City of Elk River comprehensive plan. <br /> The plan guide is residential, churches are allowed in residential districts. <br /> <br />The petitioner proposes to use the property in a reasonable manner not permitted by the zoning <br />ordinance. <br />The plight of the petitioner is due to circumstances unique to the property not a consequence of the <br />petitions own action or inaction. <br />The variance, if granted , will not alter the essential character of the locality. <br /> The Saint Andrew Church and School campus is a large campus. We feel it is reasonable to have <br />signage on each street frontage to advertise our church and school. This will not change the use of the <br />property as we will still be a church and school. <br />
