SECTION 02775-WALKS-CONCRETE <br /> PART 1-- GENERAL <br /> 1.1 SUMMARY <br /> A. This work consists of constructing concrete or bituminous walks <br /> 1.2 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br /> A. Measurement and compensation for the following items shall be paid according to the referenced <br /> specification or as modified below: <br /> B. Payment for constructing pedestrian ramps shall be measured and paid as 7"Concrete Driveway/Pedramp <br /> (Patch) at the unit price bid in the Schedule of Unit Prices,complete and in place. <br /> C. Payment for constructing truncated domes shall be measured and paid at the unit price bid per Square Foot <br /> (SF) in the Schedule of Unit Prices,complete and in place. <br /> D. Special walk sections shall be measured and paid for as a part of the design style of walk as shown on the <br /> plans. <br /> E. The furnishing and installing of specific items and/or the performance of work under certain circumstances <br /> shall not be individually paid in the absence of a specific bid item for the work. The costs shall be included <br /> in the unit price bid for the associated walks-concrete items. Such items of work include but are not <br /> limited to: <br /> 1. Cold weather concrete protection methods and materials required. <br /> 2. Provide adequate barricades and personnel to protect fresh concrete from pedestrian traffic and <br /> graffiti. <br /> 3. Provide temporary walk ways spanning fresh concrete where required to maintain access into building <br /> entrances. <br /> 4. Use of high early strength concrete. <br /> 1.3 SPECIFICATIONS REFERENCES <br /> A. MnDOT 2521 (or the Minnesota Concrete Flatwork Specifications attached hereto)shall apply to the <br /> construction of concrete walks,except as modified herein. <br /> B. MnDOT Standard Plates. <br /> C. Unless noted otherwise,the provisions in this section are in addition to the referenced specification. <br /> 1.4 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Two copies of the certified mix design shall be submitted to the engineer for review prior to the <br /> construction of the project. The mix proportions shall be determined by an independent certified testing <br /> laboratory secured by the Contractor. A current MnDOT Design Mix may be accepted provided the <br /> aggregate sources are the same as that being used for this project. <br /> PART 2-- PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 MATERIALS <br /> A. CONCRETE <br /> 1. Fifty percent of the coarse aggregate shall be Class A material as specified in MnDOT 3137. <br /> 2.
