SECTION 02770-CONCRETE CURBING AND DRIVEWAY PAVEMENT <br /> PART 1-- GENERAL <br /> 1.1 SUMMARY <br /> A. This work consists of constructing cast-in-place concrete curbs,curb and gutter, medians,driveway <br /> pavement, pedestrian ramps, and other similar traffic delineation or service items as indicated on the <br /> drawings or as specified herein. <br /> 1.2 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br /> A. Measurement and compensation for the following items shall be paid according to the referenced <br /> specification or as modified below: <br /> 1. Special curb and gutter sections shall be measured and paid for as a part of the design style of curb and <br /> gutter shown on the plans. <br /> B. The furnishing and installing of specific items and/or the performance of work under certain circumstances <br /> shall not be individually paid in the absence of a specific bid item for the work. The costs shall be included <br /> in the unit price bid for the associated concrete curb and gutter,and concrete driveway items. Such items <br /> of work include, but are not limited to: <br /> 1. Aggregate base placed under pavements. <br /> 2. Cold weather concrete protection methods and materials required. <br /> 3. High early strength concrete. <br /> 4. Provide adequate barricades and personnel to protect fresh concrete from pedestrian traffic and <br /> graffiti. <br /> 5. Provide temporary walk ways spanning fresh concrete where required to maintain access into building <br /> entrances. <br /> 6. Casting and curing concrete compressive test cylinders and the performance of compressive strength <br /> tests as specified. <br /> C. Slump and air entrainment testing. <br /> 1.3 SPECIFICATION REFERENCES <br /> A. MnDOT 2531 shall apply to the work under this section,except as modified herein. <br /> B. Unless noted otherwise,the provisions in this section are in addition to the referenced specification. <br /> C. MnDOT Standard Plates. <br /> 1.4 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. The mix proportions shall be determined by an independent certified testing laboratory secured by the <br /> Contractor. A current mix design may be submitted and accepted, provided the aggregate source is the <br /> same as that being used for this project. Two copies of the certified mix design shall be submitted to the <br /> Engineer for review prior to the construction of the project. <br /> PART 2-- PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 MATERIAL <br /> A. Fifty percent of the coarse aggregate shall be Class A material as specified in MnDOT 3137. <br /> B. The coarse aggregate designation shall be CA-35 from MnDOT Table 3137-2. <br /> C.
