<br /> <br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.6a <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent July 15, 2019 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Planning and Code Enforcement Intern Zack Carlton, Planning Manager <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of George Brenzel to the position of Planning and Code Enforcement <br />Intern effective July 16, 2019. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The 2019 budget includes an intern position for the planning division. We went to market and received <br />five applications. Following interviews with three qualified candidates, background and reference check, <br />we recommend George Brenzel for this position. <br /> <br />Mr. Brenzel is in his final year of school for a Bachelor of Individualized Studies in Urban Planning <br />Degree from the University of Minnesota. He has a variety of work experience including working as a <br />personal care attendant for the Autism Society of Minnesota, a medical lab assistant at HCMC, <br />community relations intern for the Sioux YMCA in Dupree, South Dakota, a community development <br />intern for Salinas Corporation in Equador, and most recently as a peer advisor and office assistant for the <br />University of Minnesota Career Services. In addition to his schooling at the University of Minnesota, Mr. <br />Brenzel has studied abroad in Ecuador and Argentina. <br /> <br />Mr. Brenzel will be paid $14.00 per hour.
