<br />Hay 3,1971 <br /> <br />The Regular Serni-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village 60uncil was called <br />to order by Mayor Bartelt, on May 5, 1971 at 7:30 p.m., in the Village 60uncil <br />Room. Members present were Mayor Bartelt, Councilmen Hudson, Syring, Konop <br />and Otto. <br /> <br />The minutes of the April 19, 1971 regular meeting were read. No addition,: .or <br />corrections were made" and the minutes stood approved as read. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />Victor Arnold presented the Council a petition (which is attached) requesting <br />the improvement of York Avenue from Wand Avenue through Lot 13, Block 2, <br />Paradise Park. The improvements to include blacktop street, curbing, and drainage. <br /> <br />Councilman Syring presented his street maintenance program to the Council. <br /> <br />The Clerk was ordered to write a letter to the railroad, stating that the <br />railroad was to remove the foundation of a building north of the Elk River <br />railroad depot next to the railroad tracks. <br /> <br />Moved by Syring, Seconded by Otto; to obtain prelininary engineering reports <br />on the street, except for Holt (from 5th Streett,o dead end), motion un- <br />animously carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk was ordered to let the First State Agency representative, Alvin <br />Froelick,and First National Bank Insurance representative, Dan Greene~'1!tat <br />the Council would be vJ'illing to meet with them at the mext regularly scheduled <br />Council meeting, May 17, 1971. <br /> <br />Moved by Hudson, Seconded by Konop to pass the following resolution: a four <br />week swimming, extended to six weeks if necessary, with a $3.00 fee per person <br />and may..im.um of $11.00 per family, the wages for swimming instructors would be <br />$4.50 per instructor, with Robert Dahms to be the over-seer of the swimming <br />program. Motion unanimously carried. <br /> <br />Moved by Hudson, Seconded by Konop to increase the salaries of all life guards <br />to $3.00 per hour. Motion unanimously carried. <br /> <br />Zappa requested to cut Birch for the Village again the year. <br /> <br />The Clerk was ordered to call Alvin Froelich about whether our insurance covers <br />spectators..; liability", insurance at the Village :Baseball Park. <br /> <br />Moved by otto, Seconded by Councilman Konop to give permission to the Elk <br />River Fast Pitch Softball Assn. Inc. to use the Village Baseball Park. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />Lester Derr informed the Council that C€ci1wants to retire from his position <br />as Elk River 9.ump man. <br /> <br />Council authouized the clerk to put an ad in the local newspaper, advertising <br />for a dump man to replace Cecil Garrison. <br /> <br />Hoved by Syring, Seconded by Otto to send Lester Berr to the Pollution) control] <br />school to take care of expenses. Motion unanimously carried. <br /> <br />The Council will pay Kenneth Nelson $3.25 per hour for his work for the Village <br />for the summer of 1971. <br /> <br />The Council ordered the ~lerk to send Leonard Mattson a bill for his dog. <br /> <br />Building permits approved, Galen Peterson, Michael Maderan, N H C Realty and <br />Construction Company. <br />
