Economic Development Authority Minutes Page 2 <br />May 20, 2019 <br />----------------------------- <br />5. Open Forum <br /> <br /> No one appeared for Open Forum. <br /> <br />6. Public Hearings <br /> <br /> There were no public hearing items. <br /> <br />7.1 Beautification Award <br /> <br /> Ms. Eddy presented the staff report. <br /> <br />Tamara Ackerman, Beautification Committee member, discussed the Die Concepts, <br />Inc., renovation and introduced the owners of the business, Fred and Sherri Trapp. <br /> <br />The Commission felt it was a good selection and thanked the Trapp’s for improving <br />the property. <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Westgaard and seconded by Commissioner Ovall to <br />recognize Die Concepts, Inc. with a city beautification award for May 2019. <br /> <br />Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br />7.2 Director Report <br /> <br />Ms. Othoudt presented the staff report. She noted Bryan Provo submitted his <br />resignation for the Economic Development Authority. She stated she is sad to see <br />him go and he was a very helpful and beneficial asset. <br /> <br />The Commission concurred. <br /> <br />7.3 Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce Business Survey Status <br /> <br />Commissioner Westgaard stated goals of the EDA and Chamber were to complete a <br />survey of local businesses, analyze the results, and set priorities for the future. He <br />expressed concerns with inactivity from the survey; thereby creating perceived <br />credibility issues within the community. He requested permission to work with the <br />Chamber to facilitate a way to conclude the survey. He stated his intent would be to <br />have actionable results and action items for 2020 budget planning. <br /> <br />The EDA concurred and consensus was to allow the facilitation by Commissioner <br />Westgaard. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
