<br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called <br />to order by }myor Bartelt on Feb. 15, 1971 at 7:30 pm in the Village Council <br />Room. Members present were Mayor Bartelt, Councilmen Hudson, Syring, Konop, <br />and Otto. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Feb. 1, 1971, meeting were read. No additions or correct- <br />ions were made and the V.J.nutes were approved as read. <br /> <br />Police Chief Olson discussed with the Council some bookeeping methods which <br />he would like to put into effect. This met the Councils I approval. <br /> <br />Part-time patrolman Harvey Richner stated to the Council that when he was <br />hered on NQv. 17, 1969, the Council had agreed to pay him $2.50/hr. for a <br />period of six ~onths, then if his work was satisfactory, he would get a raise <br />to $3.00/hr.. lhis was affirmed by the Council. <br /> <br />Next the Council met with members of the Town Board and also two private <br />sanitary haulers, Mr. Cox of Oliilvie and Llk River Sanitation for a discussion <br />of future alternatives of either the Village operating its own sanitary <br />Landfill or having contracts with private haulers. The Village can operate <br />its dump as,it is now being operated until July, 1972. <br /> <br />The Town board representatives discussed with'the Council the application of <br />St. Paul Sand and Gravel for a sanitary landfill. The possibility of the <br />landfill polluting the water supply of the surrounding area and even the Village <br />was discussed. The Council will check with our egineer abuut these effects. <br /> <br />Bill Patenaude brought the Utilities copy of their proposed employees benefits <br />to the Council and also a list of different insurance coverages which they <br />are looking into. The Council will also do some cheCking into employees I <br />insurance coverages. <br /> <br />C'ouncilman Syring moved and Councilman Hudson seconded a Resolution that the <br />Village call in the outstanding Municipal Building Revenue Refunding Bonds of <br />1964 and pay them off at this time. }1otion carried. <br /> <br />.u'<" <br />.'. <br /> <br />. <br />
