<br /> <br />,& <br /> <br />SNOWMOBILE RU4ES - SUMMARY <br /> <br />The following information is provided in an attempt to distill the new . <br />snowmobile ordinance into a condensed version that will address the most commonly asked <br />questIons. <br /> <br />1. There is NO recreational snowmobile riding allowed in the City of Elk River, <br />I <br />except: I <br /> <br />a. You may ride on your own property or property which you have permission. <br />b. You may ride on the BLUE (dashed) Routes identified on the Elk River Snowmobile <br />map, (note, that on some routes, only one side of the road is open for riding). <br />c. You may ride on iced over Lake Orono (must stay 100 ft from shore) and the Elk River <br />when you determine that it is safe to ride. <br /> <br />2. You may access the BLUE (dashed) Routes and Lake Orono from your home with the <br />following limitations; <br /> <br />a. You must ride on the far right side of City Streets (all roads not colored BLUE or <br />dashed), between the curbs on the asphalt dr on the asphalt on the edge of streets that <br />do not have cuibs, at a maximum speed of 20 MPH. <br />b. You must travel by the most direct route as defined above, to and from the Blue <br />(dashed) Routes. . <br />c. You must obtain and clearly display a Local Access sticker on the hood of your machine. <br />d. Y au may also access BLUE (dashed) Routes and Lake Orono by trailering your sled to a <br />trailhead or the Lake Orono boat landing. <br />e. You may ride only between the hours of 7 am and midnight. <br />. 1 <br />As an added note to clarify Local Access, you maylnot use City Streets for recreational riding or <br />to go to a destination such as a friend's house, unless that destination is on a Blue (dashed) <br />Route. <br /> <br />3. ABSOLUTELY NOSNO\VMOBILE TRAVEL IS ALLOWED IN THE "RED" <br />(CROSS-HATCHED) ZONE AS DEFINED ON THE SNOWMOBILE MAP, except <br />on the BLUE (dashed) Route that passes through that zone. . <br /> <br />PLEASE HELP KEEP THE RIGHT TO SNOWMOBILE FROM YOUR HOUSE TO <br />AND FROM TRAILS BY OBEYING ORDINANCE; <br /> <br /> <br />Revised October 2003 <br />
