Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Dave Ninow—Water Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> May 14, 2019 6.1e <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • Delivered seven new water meters. <br /> • Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from nine water services. <br /> • Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br /> o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br /> o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> • Completed 22 routine fluoride samples <br /> o All samples met MDH standards. <br /> o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> • Completed one validation fluoride sample for the Minnesota Department of Health. <br /> • Submitted MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants <br /> • Submitted MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant <br /> • Cell phone providers have set two temporary poles next to the Auburn Street Water <br /> Tower to accommodate their antennas while the tower is being painted. <br /> • Parts have been ordered for electrical panel repairs needed due to flooding at WTP 6. <br /> • On April 17 a contractor discovered that the water main southeast of 570 Freeport <br /> Avenue was bored too close resulting in damage to a private sewer line near the <br /> building.The sewer line has been repaired. A picture is attached. <br /> • Johnson Street Water Tower has been washed out, refilled with water, and put back in <br /> service for the season. <br /> • A resident at 217 Norfolk Avenue reported hearing a noise coming from near their water <br /> meter; with the help of Water Conservation Services we traced the noise to a water <br /> main break at the corner of Norfolk Avenue and Manor Place. We worked with Valley- <br /> Rich Co., Inc. to get the main repaired. A picture of the cracked pipe is attached. <br /> • We will be flushing hydrants May 13— 17. Customers have been notified, and map with <br /> the zones and the dates of flushing has been added to our website. <br /> • The vacant water operator position was offered to and accepted by Eric Jean, his first <br /> day will be May 15. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> 423 <br />
