Previous direction from City Council has been to continue looking
into feasible design solutions and funding for a potential dock. The newly proposed dock and location is
more viable than past concepts previously presented to Council. The new location would be on calmer
waters located on city property adjacent to the park directly behind McCoy's Irish Pub.
The type of dock proposed is a product called EZ Dock. This type of dock system is installed by the City
of Anoka on the Rum and Mississippi Rivers. It is a floating seasonal dock with inter -connecting deck
sections that would need to be installed each spring and removed each fall in the Mississippi River. It
would be ADA accessible.
Randy and Shannon are regular boaters on the Mississippi River and want to approach local businesses
for interest to fund the dock. Shannon will attend the work session to discuss his passion for boating and
the benefits he feels a dock will bring to downtown Elk River.
Financial Impact
Design, purchase/construction, site preparation as well as ongoing maintenance, inspection and
placement need to be considered. This dock concept alone costs approximately $115,000 and does not
include design and site prep.
Attachments
■ EZ Dock Concept
■ Rivers Edge Commons Park Master Plan Concept
■ Boundary Survey Area
■ Picture of Anoka Dock
The Elk River Vision
A PehoMing community a itb revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional P 01 W E H E 8 6 T
service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity INAMIRE1
