MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Phil Hals, Street Superintendent DATE: June 6, 2005 SUBJECT: Public Works Site Improvements The CUP for the salt/ sand building and cold storage building was reviewed by the Planning Commission on May 24, 2005 with a recommendjltion for approval being forwarded for the June 20, 2005 City Council meeting. Staff has designed the building foot prints and the building manufacturer will provide the engineered plans for the building structure. The City will have to hire a structural engineer to provide signed detail drawings for the foundations. Two local cast-in-place concrete contractors recommended Ulteig Engineering of Fridley. Staff received a quote from Ulteig not to exceed $2,500.00 for the necessary documents. They also assured me that they can meet our time line. A comparison bid from another engineering firm came in at $5,000.00. On another related topic, we have started to delivery grass clippings and brush chips to Plaisted Company's site on County Rd. #33 and Proctor Road.
