Public Hearing Case No. CU 00-1 <br /> <br />staff report by Scott Harlicker. Michael and Bonnie DeZelar, 13884 200th A venue <br />NW (Hobbit Hills), have requested a conditional use permit for a private kennel. <br />Mr. Harlicker stated that the DeZelars plan to have 6 to 8 Siberian Huskies which <br />will be used for private recreational dog sledding. Staff recommends approval of <br />the request with the conditions listed in the staff report. <br /> <br />Chair Mesich opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Chair Mesich asked if there was any grass in the kennel area. Mike DeZelar, <br />applicant, stated that the kennel was mostly grass with a concrete patio area. <br />He noted that housing would be provided for each dog. <br /> <br />Commissioner Baker asked if there may be a concern with the dogs barking. Mr. <br />DeZelar explained that Siberian Huskies normally are not barkers. He noted that 3 <br />of his neighbors already have dogs. Commissioner Baker asked if the neighbors <br />were notified of his plans. Scott stated that the neighbors were notified as part of <br />the public hearing process and no calls have been received. Mr. DeZelar stated <br />that his wife is home during the day and would be able to monitor the dogs. <br /> <br />There being no further comments from the public, Chair Mesich closed the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KUESTER MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE REQUEST BY <br />MICHAEL AND BONNIE DEZELAR FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO OPERATE A <br />PRIVATE KENNEL, PUBLIC HEARING CASE NO. CU 00-1, WITH THE FOLLOWING <br />CONDITIONS: <br /> <br />1. THAT THERE BE NO ON-SITE COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS BREEDING OR <br />BOARDING OR SELLING. <br /> <br />2. THAT THE PRIVATE KENNEL BE LIMITED TO 8 DOGS. <br /> <br />3. THAT THE ANIMAL WASTE BE DISPOSED OF PROPERLY. <br /> <br />4. THAT THE APPLICANT RECEIVE A PRIVATE KENNEL LICENSE FROM THE CITY <br />COUNCIL. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER THOMPSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />Request by Arnie Mach for Amendment to a Conditional Use Permit. Public <br />Hearinq Case No. CU 00-2 <br /> <br />Staff report by Steve Wensman. Arnie Mach has requested an amendment to his <br />conditional use permit to construct a small office for an auto sales and leasing <br />business in one of the storage stalls at his Mini Storage facility located at 19844 <br />York Avenue. Mr. Wensman reviewed parking, building issues and signage for the <br />property. Staff recommends approval of the request with the conditions in the <br />staff report. <br />
