The City of Elk River is requesting the conditional
use permit to operate a nonprofit recreational facility in the former Northbound
Liquor Store site at 50 East Main Street. Steve noted the Watz family is no longer
interested in the site. Steve indicated staff questioned the need for a baricade
between the proposed recreation center parking area and Ron's Foods parking
lot, as suggested by the Police Department. Steve Ach indicated that leaving
the area open would make it easier for parents to drop off their children and
drive through the site to leave, rather than having to turn around in the parking
lot.

Chair Mesich opened the public hearing.
