<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />October 13, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />October 26, 2004 Planning Commission Meeting <br /> <br />Commissioner Kuester will attend the October 26, 2004 Planning Commission <br />Meeting. <br /> <br />5. Open Mike <br /> <br />Debbie Chanthanuorvaong of 10648 184th Ave Elk River, MN 55330 shared her concerns <br />about there being no trail to the Trott Brook park. Ms. Chanthanourvaong is concerned <br />about children walking to the park with all the traffic. Ms. Chanthanourvaong also asked <br />when the trail is planned to be completed and when they will be finishing the park with a <br />baseball, soccer field and possibly a tennis court. <br /> <br />Commission shared that they can look at a temporary solution for the trail for fall by <br />mowing and removing the brush. <br /> <br />6. Recreation Manager's Report <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz shared with the Commission Recreation <br />Manager's, Michele Bergh staff report. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz stated that online registration is going very well and that the office is no longer <br />accepting phone in registrations. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz also stated that they reserved a total of 522 hours of use for city facilities. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Director's Report - Bill Maertz <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Bill Maertz shared with the Commission that he found <br />that the city did use the approximately $30,000 RELEAF 2004 Grant for projects from <br />private property owners. Mr. Maertz stated that he would like to see the approximately <br />$30,000 RELEAF 2005 Grant go to managing hazardous trees. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kuester shared that last year the Lafayette park site was a possible <br />suppression site. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz stated that they planted flowers, added benches and hung up light pole banners <br />to finish the landscaping at Lions Park Center. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz shared that they resurfaced and striped the basketball court, added curb and <br />gutters, placed benches and planted trees out at Highlands West Park. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz shared information about the Metro Wildlife Corridors meeting for Sherburne <br />County. Mr. Maertz stated that they would be working with the Tiller Corporation to <br />establish a price for the Top of the World addition and apply for a 50% matching grant to <br />buy property. <br /> <br />Mr. Maertz stated that he would be meeting with the Sherburne County Planner on October <br />19,2004 to start looking at potential sites for a Sherburne County Regional Park. <br />
