<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />August 13,2003 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />9.C.l Park/Trail Development Issues: ISD #728 re: Resurfacing of Vanden Berge Tennis Courts <br /> <br />John Barth, Athletic Director with ISD #728 along with Laura Brown, representing Elk <br />River High School Tennis was present to request that the City enter into a partnership with <br />ISD #728 to resurface the tennis courts at VandenBerge Middle School. The Elk River <br />Tennis Association and the School District have made a pledge of monies towards this <br />proJect. <br /> <br />The Commission questioned Mr. Barth on the cost of the tennis court resurfacing and if <br />they would lose the courts if the resurfacing is not done. Mr. Barth and Ms. Brown <br />indicated that the courts would need to be resurfaced soon in order not to have to complete <br />a reconstruction of the courts. The Commission also questioned if the courts are available <br />to the public. It was noted that they are and that the City Recreation offers tennis lessons <br />that are conducted on these courts. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KUESTER MOVED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY <br />COUNCIL TO AMEND THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS BUDGET IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $35,000 AND THAT $17,500 BE RETURNED FROM THE <br />SCHOOL DISTICT. COMMISSIONER ANDERSON SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />10. <br /> <br />Information/Update Items <br /> <br />This information was presented to the Commissioners in their packets.
