<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Description of Project Narrative <br /> <br />Abiding Savior Lutheran Church is seeking approval to build a 3110 square foot addition <br />and retrofit the existing space with a fire sprinkler system. The added classroom and <br />multipurpose space will allow the Church to grow as well as opening its doors to host <br />more community events. The space will also provide the congregation with a more <br />functional space to gather following service. The addition of the fire sprinkler and <br />associated remodel will bring the Church into compliance and improve the life safety of <br />the building. In fitting with the comprehensive plan, it will help to create and maintain a <br />strong neighborhood and keep it safe. <br /> <br />The building would be used primarily on Sunday mornings from approximately 8 am to <br />1 pm. The building is also used on Wednesday nights for confirmation class and choir <br />practice. Office hours for Pastor and the Church administrator are weekdays from 8 am <br />to 5 pm. <br /> <br />To accommodate current and future expected growth, an additional 48 parking spots <br />will be added to the existing 51 spot parking lot. This will meet, and exceed, the Citys <br />required number of spots and allow for 4 accessible spots to be centrally located at the <br />entrances. <br /> <br />The exterior materials will be EIFS with a second color of EIFS banding to provide <br />architectural and visual interest. There will be brick veneer to match the existing <br />building at the entrance and the roof will be an EPDM membrane. Although there are <br />no specific requirements for the R1c district, these materials do meet design standards <br />for other districts. <br /> <br />Abiding Savior Lutheran Church would also like to remove their existing signage and <br />build a new sign in a more visible location. They are seeking approval for a lit ninety-six <br />square foot sign that can be seen by Elk Lake Rd. With the limited access to the site, it is <br />important to achieve visibility where possible. <br /> <br />There is no additional outdoor storage being added and no modification being made to <br />their existing garage. <br /> <br />Overall Abiding Savior Lutheran Church is seeking the ability to grow as well as to allow <br />improved safety and community involvement. <br /> <br />
