<br />:) <br /> <br />;) <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called <br />to order by acting Mayor, Hu~son o~ Dec. 21, 1970, at 7:30 pm in the Council <br />room of the Village Office'building, Members present were Councilman Hudson, <br />Syring and Konop. <br /> <br /> <br />The minutes of the Dec. 7, 1970 regular meeting were read. No additions <br />or corrections were'made. <br /> <br />Councilman Syring brought it to the attention of the Council that the village <br />policemen were not patroling the RCPA property 'as much as they shoul~ acc- <br />ording to the contract which is in effect. <br /> <br />Councilman Hudson said that no estimates have been received yet on the cost <br /> <br />of 6f;t;~ett pril1tingthe zafifng"~ordiriance~ <br />........f :ov ., : ' ~'" 't" 'I';;' <br /> <br />Councilman Hudson said that he thought~-che'lsiiowmobile ordanance qwauld. have <br />to be amended, since the village is prohibited from requiring that snow- <br />mobilistsmust have a valid arivers license to operate a snowmobile within <br />the village by state -law. The Council decided that John MacGibbon should <br />be contacted on this subject for his legal advice. <br /> <br />The 1971 library budget was reveiwed and reduced by the Council from $9~132.74 <br />to $8,046.74 to meet the amount levied. <br />1t\i't l' <br />The Council decidednthe cost of heating the building which includes the liquor <br />store and the village offices should be divided equally between the Village <br />and the liquor store ,until the heat costs can be accurately computed. <br /> <br />x At 8: 00 pm , acting Mayor Hu.son declared the taking of bids for the new fire <br />truck was closed. The bids received were asfoliows: <br />Joe Rosenthal Fort- Fori truck chassis <br />,General Saftey Equipment Co. ,North Branch <br />The bids were turned over the the Fire dept. committe for review. <br /> <br />$8,993.00 <br />$19.890.00 <br /> <br />Bill Patenaude, Utilities Commissioner, met with the Council and discussed <br />employee pay scales. Last year the Commission based the salaries of employees <br />with' comparible occupations at RCPA. The last raise for the utilities <br />employees was Sept. 1970. Further d.iscussion Will continue at ehe Jan meeting <br />with the Commissioners regarding employee benefits and other problems within <br />the department. <br /> <br />x <br />The Council helci an interview with John F. Smith, and applicant for the Elk <br />River Police Chief job. <br /> <br />DeRosier said that there would be no problem in patroling the RCPA property <br />at least four times a night in the future. Councilman Konop moved that we <br />renew the patrol contract with RCPA and Councilman Syring secomied the motion. <br />Motion was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Councilman Hudson brought;it to the attention of the Council that the Council <br />would have 08 find someone to replace Paul Siegler on the Planing Commission. <br /> <br />Councilman Syring moved and Councilman Konop seconded that the" Council recommend <br />the following salaries: $650/mo. for patrolman DeRosier, $2.75/hr. for part- <br />time patrolmen, $3.25/hr. for street employees, $750/mo. for Les Derr, and <br />$775/mo. for the liquor store manager, Ernie Thielke, for approval at the Jan. <br />4, 1971, Council meeting.
