<br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Councilman Syring introduced the following Resolution and <br /> <br />moved its adoption: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the. provisions of Chapter 465.56 of the Minnesota <br /> <br />Statutes Annotated enable the:.governing body of a village when authorized <br /> <br />by the electors to provide annually a tax not to exceed one mill on <br /> <br />all the taxable property within such Village but tn no event more <br /> <br />than $2,000.00 in anyone year for the purpose of advertising the <br /> <br />Village and its resources and advantages, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 465.57 of the Minnesota Statutes Annotated <br /> <br />permit th~ governing body of a Village by a resolution adopted at <br /> <br />least 20 days before any general village election to submit to the <br /> <br />voters ab.such election to be voted upon by ballot the question of <br /> <br />levying such a tax, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is believed to be in the best interest of the <br /> <br />Village of Elk River to provide for such advertising by levying an <br /> <br />amount of money not to exceed one-half mill on the taxable property <br /> <br />of the Village but in no event more than $1,000.00. <br /> <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: <br /> <br />1. That there shall be submitted to the voters of the Village <br />of Elk River at the next general election to be held on <br />Tuesday, the 3rd day of November, 1970, the following <br />question: - <br /> <br />"Shlill the Village Council of the Village of Elk River <br />be authorized and empowered to levy a tax not to exceed <br />one-half mill on all the taxable property within the <br />Village,but in no event shall more than $1,000.00 <br />be rai&ed in anyone year, for the purpose of advertising <br />the Village and its resources and advantages." <br /> <br />YES . '/ / <br />NO II <br /> <br />2. The Clerk - Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed <br />to have ballots printed containing the foregoing question <br />and to take any and all other steps necessary for sub- <br />mitting to the voters at said general election such <br />question. <br /> <br />Councilman Hudson seconded the motion whereupon the motio~ <br /> <br />was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br />~?~ <br /> <br />( Mayor <br /> <br />
