Ach, City Planner�� <br />DATE: December 18, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Ordinance Amendment by the City <br />of Elk River, Public Hearing Case No. <br />OA 95-14 <br />The City of Elk River is requesting an ordinance amendment to establish a <br />new commercial zoning district entitled "Neighborhood Commercial'. <br />Attachments <br />Ordinance No. 95 - <br />Report to the Planning Commission dated 10/24/95 and 11/28/95 <br />Overview <br />The proposed neighborhood commercial zoning district is an idea that was <br />discussed as part of the 1988 Comprehensive Plan and most recently, by the <br />Steering Committee during their review and update of the existing <br />Comprehensive Plan. The purpose behind the neighborhood commercial <br />zoning district is to allow for additional diversification in the commercial <br />zoning districts that currently exist in the zoning ordinance. This new <br />district will allow less intense commercial activities to occur in close <br />proximity to residential areas and other locations that may be inappropriate <br />for the more intense highway business district. <br />Please refer to the attached report to the Planning Commission for additional <br />information regarding the uses and standards that are proposed for the <br />neighborhood commercial district. <br />Plannine Commission Recommendation <br />The Planning Commission discussed this ordinance at one workshop and two <br />public hearing meetings.
