The regular semi=monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council of the Village <br />of Elk River, Minn., was called to order by Mayor Dartelt on Dec. 17, 1969, in <br />the Council Roos of the Municipal Building at 7:30 pm, all members were present <br />as follows: Mayor Bartelt, Councilmen Hudson, Syring, McRae and Konop. <br />The minutes of the Dec. 1, 1969 regular meeting and Dec. 2, 1969 meeting with <br />the Utilities Commission"were read. No Additions or Correctiors. <br />Len Madsen was iiesent in regards to operation of snow mobiles in the village <br />and discussion followed on apparent violations. The present ordinance will be <br />republished in this weeks paper and more stringent"enforcement will be taken. <br />Earl Moos reported on heating the area above the liquor store. His quotation <br />last September for 3 furnaces installed has been reduced $50.00 to $4,690.14 <br />account of error`in figures. The placing of 3 furnaces was recommended by <br />Mr. Mees. <br />Moved by Councilman McRae and seconded by Councilman Hudson to purchase one <br />gas-fired 225,"000 BTU -Furnace with a 2 ton cooling unit from Moos Plumbing and <br />Hegting cost to be'$1,6^2.00. -Motion unaminou.sly carried. <br />Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson to adjust the wages <br />of the salaried employees to be eff active Jan. 1, 1970 as follows: Lester Derr <br />$700.00 per month, Earl Hohlen $675.00 per month and Ronald DeRosier $600.00 <br />per month. Motion unaminously carried. Ernie Thielke's salary win remain at <br />$700.00 per month until he has completed his 6 months probationery period. Wages;, <br />for the street employees will be"`revaluat6d at our next regular council meeting. <br />Discussion en snow removal at night. Les Derr will check with Burgoyne to learn <br />if feasible. <br />Hohlen reported on complaints rece:kved on snow mobiles travelling down Main Street <br />and also on the downtown parking problem whereas businessecd employees are <br />moving their cars to conform with the 2 hour parking law. <br />Regarding the complaint from Al Brown on no access to his jarage. Councilman <br />Hudson reported that Les Derr can remedy the problem in the spring by scraping <br />dirt and building a 5 to 1 grade. <br />No further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />
