(Photo by Jim Boyle) <br />Crystal man dies in <br />Highway 101 collision <br />A two -car broad -side collision <br />at the intersection of Highway <br />101 and County Road 42 in Ot- <br />sego claimed the life of a 38- <br />year-old Crystal man Saturday <br />night. <br />David Scheef died at Mercy <br />Hospital, shortly after he had <br />been transported there by am- <br />bulance from the scene of the <br />crash. <br />He had been a passenger in a <br />1982 Buick Skyhawk driven by <br />34-year-old Dennis Mark <br />Gunderson of St. Cloud. <br />Gunderson was also taken to <br />Mercy Hospital where he was <br />treated and released. <br />Three people in the other ve- <br />hicle, a 1992 Chevrolet Corsica, <br />driven by Steven Nielsen, 43 of <br />Nevis were also taken to Mercy. <br />Nielsen and his wife, Julie, 44, <br />were treated and released. <br />Julie's mother, Jeanette Mass, <br />72, was treated for minor inju- <br />ries and released the following <br />day. <br />Nielsen's car was traveling <br />northbound on Highway 101 <br />when it collided at the intersec- <br />tion with Gunderson s vehicle, <br />which was heading east on <br />County Road 42. <br />The State Highway Patrol <br />would not comment as to <br />whether or not one ofthe drivers <br />may have run a red light.
