<br />TH E VI LLAG E 0 F' ELK RIVER <br /> <br />TELEPHONE 441-2052 <br /> <br />322 KING AVENUE <br /> <br />OFFICE OF THE CLERK - TREASURER <br /> <br />ELK RIVER, MINNESOTA 55330 <br /> <br />RESOLUTlDN REGARDING PERlWSIVi:!: LEGISLATION ENABLING COMMUNITIES <br /> <br />OPERATING MUNICIPAL OFF-SALE LIQUOR S'IDBES 'ID ISSUE PRIVATE <br />ON-SALE LIQUOR LICENSES. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, State law does not allow a municipality operating an <br />off-sale liquor store to issue private on-sale liquor <br />licenses, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the ability to issue private on-sale liquor licenses <br />enables a municipality to actively compete for hotel, <br />'motel, and eating drinking establishments, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, communities with attractive eating and drinking estab-' <br />lisbments are able to entice visitors and tourists, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, municipal off-sale liquor stores offer much needed <br />revenues ,to municipalities of all sizes, and <br /> <br />---., <br /> <br />\ <br />..-l <br /> <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Village Council of the <br />Village of Elk River does go on record as favoring a SPLIT- <br />LIQUOR bill which would enable communities "r.i.th municipal <br />operations, to decide for themselves whether or not they wish <br />to issue private on-sale liquor licenses to qualified eating <br />establishments.
