EGty1� ,.,�� Request for Action <br /> River <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 4.15 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Consent November 19, 2018 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Hire Community Service Officer I Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Approve,by motion, the hiring of Nathan Moore to the position of Community Service Officer I <br /> effective November 20, 2018. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> The CSO I is a temporary part-time position that works up to 24 hours per week,primarily evenings and <br /> weekends. The maximum length of this position will be two years with a possible extension of one year, <br /> depending on the employee's declared education track. <br /> Following the resignation of Nick Davis in June,who went to the Washington County Sheriff's Office to <br /> fill a full-time Deputy position,we went to market to fill our vacant CSO I position. <br /> We received applications from 24 interested candidates and offered first-round interviews to 16 qualified <br /> applicants. Second-round interviews were given to the top four candidates. The Chief and Captains <br /> decided to complete background investigations on the top two candidates. After careful and thorough <br /> evaluation, the decision was made to select Nathan Moore for the position. <br /> Nathan is currently a student at Rasmussen College enrolled in the Law Enforcement program. He <br /> worked as a Security Patrol Officer at the Mall of America beginning in March 2017, and worked as a <br /> Security Agent from 2015 —2017 at an establishment in Denver, Colorado,before moving to Minnesota. <br /> He enjoys fitness activities, especially softball and baseball. <br /> Nathan is ready to start his position with the Police Department on Tuesday,November 20, 2018. He <br /> will be paid at step A of pay grade 6N.
