<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 4, 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Oct 4, 1965 <br />with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the <br />last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Sherman Sachs was present and upon motion by Norris and second by Bartelt, Sachs beer license at <br />the Riverside Store was renewed. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Hudson to go ahead with the recodification of the <br />village ordinances. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The council asked the clerk to write the League of Minn. Municipalities for advice in this project. <br /> <br />Building permits were issued to Oliver Micheau for a garage and Joe Barsody for a garage. <br /> <br />The Eagle Lodge represented by Elroy Cornelius and Walter Coles made application for a 3.2 beer <br />license. The council approved upon motion by Hudson and second by Bartelt. Motion caried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt that the resolution of Oct 3, 1960 prohibiting the use of “live music” <br />at any establishment licensed for the sale of non-intoxicating malt liquors be amended so as to <br />exclude therefrom private clubs licensed for the sale of non-intoxicating malt liquor. Motion was <br />seconded by Norris and passed. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Briggs to issue a special use permit to Russell Oliver <br />th <br />to operate a retail sewing center, sales and service at 1020 4 St. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The council agreed to raise the schools sewer rental 10%. <br /> <br />Motion by Bartelt and seconded by Norris to purchase a self containing mask for the Fire <br />Department. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Norris and second by Hudson Lester Derr was appointed acting zoning <br />administrator. <br /> <br />Motion by Bartelt and second by Norris the minimum fee for building permit is to be $5.00, $3.00 <br />of which shall go to the zoning administrator. <br /> <br />The council asked the clerk to write the Wright County Sheriff and the clerk of the village of <br />Clearwater regarding the application of Donald Dorf for job of police officer. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Mike Mansfield – labor, sewer 20.00 <br />N.W. Bell – phone sewer 16.90 <br />E.R. Utilities – L&P sewer 133.75 <br /> <br />
