<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 7, 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on Sept 7, 1965 by Mayor <br />Johnson. Members present: Norris, Hudson, Briggs, and Mayor Johnson. Bartelt was absent. The <br />minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A delegation with Mr. Joseph Gutzwiller as Chairman presented a petition objecting to the location <br />of the Dairy Queen on the H.L. Johnson property. See petition on file. <br /> <br />Mr. G.A. Berg, representing the Dairy Queen Company, explained their stand on the matter and <br />attorney John MacGibbon explained the zoning ordinance and special permits applying to the <br />section of the village. <br /> <br />Other members of the delegation were: Ben Schwab, Mrs. Clayton Boyd, Clarence Kramer, Mr. and <br />Mrs. Kenneth Nelson. <br /> <br />Nothing further was done at this meeting. <br /> <br />John Lendemo appeared and presented a petition asking for a club license for the American License. <br />Upon motion by Hudson and second by Briggs the village agreed to issue the license. <br /> <br />Trustee Norris introduced village Ordinance No. 71 which combine the office of clerk and treasurer <br />now called clerk-treasurer and moved its adoption. This was seconded by Hudson and passed all <br />voting in favor (see ordinance attached). <br /> <br />A motion was made by Hudson and second by Norris to accept A.N. Johnson bid of $2200.00 for <br />the paving on Fifth Street. Carried. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to write the Sherburne County Welfare Board for a report on Mrs. LaRayne <br />Anderson as to eligibility for relief and recommendation regarding non-support or abandonment of <br />Hudson. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Monticello Clinic – Anderson case 30.00 <br />Andy’s Electric – labor and material 157.67 <br />N. Central Pub Service – fuel (sewer) 33.09 <br />N.W. Bell – phone sewer 16.51 <br />A.N. Johnson – storm sewer 2515.00 <br />Doebler’s Pure Oil – gas 3.03 <br />Robt. Dahm’s – labor 64.00 <br />Carlson Hardware – supplies 29.91 <br />Star News – printing 10.40 <br />Fire Department – fires 144.00 <br />Nat’l Chemsearch – supplies 58.00 <br />Elk River Lumber – supplies 197.79 <br /> <br />
