<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 2, 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Aug 2, 1965. <br />Members present: Mayor Johnson, Briggs, Hudson, and Norris. Bartelt was absent. <br /> <br />Mr. John Pray from Monticello, Minn was present. He left an application for beer license at the <br />Main Street Tap. <br /> <br />John McGaughey demonstrated an answering service for use of the police department. Nothing was <br />done about it at this meeting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Hudson to allow the Planning Commission to <br />interview a professional planning consultant in regard to taking part in the State 101 program. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />Mr. G.A. Berg 4400 E Lake St Minneapolis was present. He represents the Dairy Queen Co and <br />plans to put in a Dairy Queen on H.L. Johnson property. A motion was made by Briggs and <br />seconded by Norris to allow the Dairy Queen Co a special use permit for this purpose. Motion <br />carried. Mayor Johnson abstained. <br /> <br />Sylvester Haus was granted an on and off beer license. <br /> <br />Neil Larson asked for a change of zoning on lot 2, block 2, Riverview add. He was asked to contact <br />the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />A petition was received from Dean Baily asking for a permit to erect a pole type garage on west side <br />of Proctor Ave between the continuation of School St and the Railroad tracks. He was asked to take <br />the matter up with the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Hudson to grant Ron McKewin a special use permit <br />for the nursing home. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Doebler’s Pure Oil – gas, oil 92.56 <br />N.W. Bell – phones 108.21 <br />Stuart Mapson – assessor 600.00 <br />Art Barnier – labor 254.02 <br />LeRoy Pike – labor 279.57 <br />Judy Duggan – life guard 114.50 <br />Robt. Dahms – life guard 162.00 <br />Judy Duggan – swim lessons 200.00 <br />Robt. Dahms – swim lessons 250.00 <br />Robt. Dahms – labor 254.00 <br />Library Agency – books 72.33 <br />H.A. Briggs – board of review 12.00 <br /> <br />
