<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 6, 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Elk River Council was called to order on July 6, 1965 by Mayor <br />Johnson with all members present except Norris. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Arthur Schreyer of Minneapolis was present. He would like to buy the Main St Tavern and inquired <br />about getting a beer license. He was given an application blank. <br /> <br />Mag Johnson, representing the Rotary Club was present. He asked if something can be done about <br />speeding on village streets. It was suggested that more signs be placed on the streets. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Briggs to put up more signs. 25 miles per hour. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />Roland Murray of Davis store complained about no parking in front of the store at the end of the <br />pedestrian crossing. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Bartelt and second by Hudson, beer license of Elroy Cornelius was renewed. <br /> <br />Mr. Peter Racchini, architect from Minneapolis was present. He is interested in a possible new <br />village hall for the village and that a federal grant might be obtained for a new library building. <br />Nothing was done about it at this meeting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Briggs to go ahead with the black top on Fifth <br />Street. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt to advertise for a full time village police. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />There was discussion about trying to include Orono Park and the disposal plant into the village. It <br />was decided to ask John MacGibbon to prepare such a resolution. Motion to have such a resolution <br />prepared was made by Bartelt and seconded by Hudson. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Fire Department – service 15.00 <br />H&S Asphalt – hot mix 42.52 <br />Elkrete Ready Mix – road material 20.00 <br />Tom’s T.V. – repairs 9.55 <br />Big Lake Gravel – work at dump 31.50 <br />Farm Bureau – gas, oil 15.32 <br />Ansel Aydt – remove stump 4.00 <br />Miller-Davis – supplies 7.81 <br />Elkrete Ready Mix – gravel 27.50 <br />Linda Swen – asst 18.00 <br /> <br />
