<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 5, 1965 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Apr 5, 1965. All <br />present except Norris who was absent. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The <br />minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />The clerk read a letter from Curtis Briggs asking for a chance to purchase the island in the lake <br />known as Scout Island. The council says the island is used by the Boy Scouts and would not like to <br />refuse the use of the island to the Scouts. <br /> <br />Motion by Bartelt and second by Hudson to go ahead with the sewer extension on Upland Ave. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />L.G. Lamm and several others met with the council asking about the rezoning on Mr. Lamm’s <br />property. The council is waiting to hear further from the Planning Commission. However, the <br />council agreed to act on Lamm’s petition at least by the next meeting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt to give permit to N.W. Bell Telephone Co <br />to lay a telephone cable in the village from School St North on Jackson Ave. to the village line. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Building permits were approved to Dr. Travis, Alfred Leistico, Houlton Ins. Co, and Elk River <br />Lumber Co. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed: <br />Joe Doebler – rent Mr. Bearling 50.00 <br />Art Barnier – labor 148.74 <br />LeRoy Pike – labor 156.77 <br />N. Central Pub Service – fuel Wilson 27.09 <br />Petty Cash – supplies 2.70 <br />Bank of Elk River – insurance 570.63 <br />Art Barnier – labor 162.26 <br />Violet Turner – cleaning 16.50 <br />E.R. Utilities – L&P 299.70 <br />LeRoy Pike – labor 159.51 <br />Library Acct – books 179.42 <br />Judy Greupner – asst 20.00 <br />Linda Swen – asst 37.50 <br />Davis Food – Kluge groc 33.50 <br />Tony Burgoyne – snow 360.50 <br />Star News – printing 45.60 <br />Andy’s Electric – service 3.00 <br />Ind.
