<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 5, 1962 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Nov 5, 1962. <br />All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the <br />last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A building permit was issued to Milfred Lindenfelser for an addition to his building on Main St. Mr. <br />Joe Bailey tendered his resignation as member of the Power and Light Commission. The clerk was <br />asked to write him a letter complimenting him on his good services on the commission. <br /> <br />Earl Holen was present at the meeting. He complained that a sewer manhole on Main Street near his <br />property is too high. He is to see engineer Mills about it. <br /> <br />The council agreed to transfer funds from the Sewer Fund to the Sewer Improvement Fund if <br />necessary. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Briggs to have a vote at the next Village Election <br />whether to raise the salaries of the mayor and trustees each $100.00 per year. Making Trustee salaries <br />250.00 per year and the mayor 310.00 per year. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 63 attached. <br /> <br />A letter was received from the Board of Education asking that a signal be placed at the school <br />crossing over the track on Proctor Ave. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Laron to investigate the matter of signals as to the <br />cost and how it can be paid for. Carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to write the Railroad and Warehouse Commission for information and <br />suggestions. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to have three members on the Village <br />Election Board on Dec 4. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved. <br />Weber’s Texaco – gas, oil 99.17 <br />Oscarson’s Mobile – gas, oil 69.15 <br />H&S Asphalt Co – hot mix 42.35 <br />Lester Van Patten – radio work 27.00 <br />Harvey Persons – painting car 10.00 <br />E.R. Concrete Prod – rings 15.60 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – sand 49.00 <br />Star News – printing 40.15 <br />Minn Equipment Co – 370.00 <br />Andys Electric – service 18.86 <br />Andys Electric – service 29.03 <br />Bernett Mich Shop -repairs 4.00 <br />George Moos – police 32.15 <br /> <br />
