At the time of this <br />writing, four more samples are schedule to be collected from the Elk River. <br /> <br />Figure 3: Bacteria (e.coli) genetic marker study, 2017. <br />Precipitation <br />Sherburne SWCD trains and oversees an average of 13 volunteer rain gauge readers per year. <br />These volunteers collect precipitation data from a number of points in the county. Information is <br />used in several ways, including to help farmers improve irrigation practices and assist SWCD staff <br />in determining when to collect water samples from nearby streams (aiming to collect data during <br />the “runoff” following the rain). <br />7 <br /> <br />
