<br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 6.1 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Presentations, Awards October 15, 2018 Ron Nierenhausen, Chief of Police <br />and Recognition <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Lifesaving Award Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br /> <br />Action Requested <br /> The Council is asked to publically recognize a group of individuals for their lifesaving efforts. <br /> Chief Nierenhausen to read and present the lifesaving awards to: <br /> Kevin Heldt, Officer <br /> Brandon Martin, Officer <br /> Don Schulte, Medic <br /> Terry Elliott, EMT <br /> Owen Decathelineau, EMT <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />At 7:27 p.m., on September 17, 2018, Elk River Police were dispatched to a report of a female in cardiac <br />arrest. Upon arrival, officers located Edward Greenwaldt administering CPR to the patient, his wife, Judy <br />Greenwaldt. <br /> <br />Officers took over CPR and placed pads for the Automated Electronic Defibrillator. Officer Heldt and <br />Officer Martin and first responders were able to continue CPR until she regained a steady pulse and was <br />transported to a medical facility. <br /> <br />Due to the quick response and initial CPR/rescue breathing efforts from those on scene Judy Greenwaldt <br />survived.
