<br /> <br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.5 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent October 15, 2018 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Engineering Technician II Justin Femrite, Public Works Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the conditional hiring of Ryan Sandhoefner as Engineering Technician II effective <br />December 19, 2018. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />Following the resignation of Engineering Technician II, Dan Belair, we went to market to fill this <br />position. <br /> <br />We received 12 applications and interviewed 6 candidates. Following reference and background checks, <br />we would like to hire Ryan Sandhoefner based on the condition that he completes his schooling and <br />receives his bachelor’s degree this December. <br /> <br />Mr. Sandhoefner is completing his final semester at North Dakota State University. Once graduated, he <br />will have his Civil Engineering degree and be eligible to become an Engineer In Training (EIT). Mr. <br />Sandhoefner has worked the past three summers as an Intern at the Anoka County Highway Department <br />where he has gained excellent experience working with their Engineering Technicians. <br /> <br />Mr. Sandhoefner will begin at step A of pay grade 2N.
