The term solicitation means any oral or electronic communication that encourages, <br /> advocates, demands, or requests any position or action or contribution of money, time, <br /> effort, personal involvement or membership in any organization or the sale or purchase of <br /> any merchandise or service. <br /> The term distribution means posting, handing out, or otherwise distributing any written <br /> material in hard copy. <br /> Non Employees <br /> Non-employees of the Utilities are strictly prohibited from engaging on Utilities premises <br /> in: i) trespassing; ii) the solicitation of any person; and iii) the distribution of any written <br /> material. Any violation or attempted violation of this policy by a non-employee should be <br /> reported immediately to the on-site supervisor. <br /> Employees <br /> Employees are prohibited from solicitation, for any purpose, during the working time of <br /> any employee involved in making or receiving the solicitation. <br /> Employees are prohibited from distribution of written material in any work area at all <br /> times. Employees are also prohibited from distributing written material anywhere during <br /> the working time of any employee actively engaged in the distribution. <br /> This policy does not prohibit an employee from performing solicitation or distribution in a <br /> non-work area on behalf of a third party that is not engaged in commercial, for-profit, or <br /> political activity, provided the employee has received the advance approval of the on-site <br /> supervisor to engage in such solicitation or distribution. <br /> Related Policies <br /> • Utilities Bulletin Boards. The Utilities in its discretion may permit employees to <br /> distribute written material by posting on Utilities bulletin boards in accordance <br /> with this policy,provided that any material for such posting must be reviewed and <br /> approved in advance by a Utilities manager, who may consult with the Human <br /> Resources Representative before making a decision whether or not to allow the <br /> posting. <br /> • Solicitation and Distribution on Utilities Computer and E-Mail Systems. <br /> Employees and non-employees are prohibited from using Utilities computer <br /> systems and other property and resources, including the Utilities e-mail system, <br /> for solicitation or distribution, except in connection with a Utilities-sponsored <br /> activity or, with advance approval of the on-site supervisor, on behalf of a third <br /> party that is not engaged in commercial, for-profit, or political activity. <br /> 13 <br /> March 2017 <br /> September 2018 <br /> 60 <br />
