About MMPA <br /> This section provides overview information about the Minnesota <br /> Municipal Power Agency. <br /> MMPA Is a MMPA is a municipal power agency formed in 1992 under Chapter <br /> Municipal Power 453 of Minnesota Statutes. The Agency is a political subdivision of <br /> Agency the state of Minnesota. <br /> MMPA provides electricity to its municipal utility members and <br /> they in turn sell that electricity to residential and business customers <br /> in their community. MMPA began supplying power to its members <br /> in 1995. <br /> MMPA is governed by a board of directors. <br /> Has 12 Member MMPA is composed of the following twelve Minnesota <br /> Cities communities: <br /> • Anoka <br /> • Arlington <br /> • Brownton <br /> • Buffalo <br /> • Chaska <br /> • East Grand Forks <br /> • Elk River <br /> • Le Sueur <br /> • North St. Paul <br /> • Olivia <br /> • Shakopee <br /> • Winthrop <br /> MMPA's member municipal utilities have approximately 74,000 <br /> retail customers in Minnesota with a combined population of <br /> approximately 160,000. <br /> MMPA Is Mission- MMPA's mission is to provide reliable, competitively-priced power <br /> Driven to its members and to create value for both the Agency and its <br /> members. In addition, MMPA is committed to supporting the <br /> communities it serves and does so by offering an energy education <br /> program, developing local power generation in member <br /> communities,providing conservation and renewable energy <br /> programs to members' customers, and converting waste from its <br /> 74 <br />
