I <br /> Ili <br /> I <br /> PROFIT AND LOSS NARRATIVE <br /> ELECTRIC <br /> IThe Operating Revenue for July 2005 reflects a much warmer month than the prior year. <br /> Revenues are up $300,000 and kilowatt hours are up 4,500,000 from a year ago. <br /> IOther Operating Revenue has a slight decrease from a year ago. Connection Fees are <br /> down in July 2005 as compared to the prior year by $13,000, while Miscellaneous <br /> I Revenue is up $4,000 and Interest Income is up $1,600 (due to the maturity of 2 <br /> Certificates of Deposit.) <br /> I The purchased power cost is also up from a year ago due to the warmer weather. The <br /> margin is much better though ($344,000 this year compared to $175,000 last year) and <br /> this is directly reflected in the bottom line. Most of the expenses are down from last year <br /> I with the exception of Depreciation, Interest, and Services to the City, all of which have <br /> consistently been higher this year due to larger monthly accruals. Other Operating <br /> Expense is also higher due to the Security Systems expenses component of this item. <br /> IWATER <br /> The Operating Revenue is up slightly from a year ago. The number of gallons used is <br /> PI down by 4,000,000 from the prior year but the unit cost is increased and so the revenues <br /> are still higher. <br /> I Other Operating Revenue has a slight decrease from a year ago just as in the Electric <br /> Department. From the prior year, Connection Fees are down $13,000 and Interest Income <br /> is up $6,000 (due to the maturity of 2 Certificates of Deposit.) <br /> IProduction expense for July 2005 is $11,000 over July last year due to the maintenance of <br /> the Hillside Water Tower. The largest expense for water continues to be depreciation. <br /> I <br /> Interest expense is increased over July last year due to the larger accrual, and <br /> Administrative expense is increased over July last year due to the 25% sharing of <br /> overhead costs being consistently applied. <br /> 1 <br /> :IF <br /> 1 '4 <br />
