<br />o <br /> <br />Members present <br /> <br />REGULAR SEHI-MONTHLY MEETING OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF ELK RIVER <br />HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY OFFICE BLDG. <br /> <br />April 19, 1976 at 7:30 PM. <br /> <br />Mayor Lundberg and Councilmembers Konop, Otto and Syring. <br /> <br />The minutes of April 5. 1976 meeting were reviewed the date should read April 5 and not <br />April 19, 1976 no other corrections or addition were noted therefore the minutes stand appro~ <br />ed as corrected. <br /> <br />Leonard Kokott, Bob Straw and Mrs'. Lawrence Elliott met with the Council regarding the Bi- <br />centennial flag. The Bicentennial Committee would like their flag flown only during day <br />light hours on the flag pole in the downtown park and the VFvJ would like to fly th:eir flag all <br />the time with a light on for night viewing out at Lake Orono Park. The City employees have <br />purchased their bicentennial flag and will fly it on pole at the City Hall also with a light <br />for night viewing. <br /> <br />Gene Schuldt, Chairman of the Park Board met with the Council requesting of the Council if <br />they had any objections to the Park Board hirering two CETA employees under the Title 1 for <br />this summer out at the parks. The Council stated they had no objections as long as these <br />people are supervised. <br /> <br />Mayor Lundberg declared May 18th and 19th 1976 as "Hypertension Detection Days" <br /> <br />Moved by Councilmember otto and seconded by Councilmember Syring approving Northwestern Bells <br />o;r~6~est to place buried cable across Protor Avenue. <br /> <br /> <br />, oved by Councilmember Syring and seconded by Councilmember Konop accepting and approving the <br />fire contract with that district of Big Lake Township as follows: Sections 1,12,&13 <br />T33N, R27W; that part of sections 24 & 25 which are East of the Elk River and NQrth of the <br />railroad, all of section 25 south of the railroad all of section 36, T33N, R27W and all <br />section L, T33N, R27W. (approx. 6 square miles in total) map attached. Motion unanimously <br />carried by a vote of 4-0. <br /> <br />Motion unanimously carried by a vote of <br /> <br />The Council reviewed the finance committees report. It was noted by Councilmember Konop that <br />out of every dollar in sales that is taken over the bar in the on sale 46~ goes toward <br />salaries and benefits. The finance committee will meet again to try and conclude some positi' <br />answers as what can or shall be done in regards to the continue too or drop out of the on sal, <br />operation. It was also noted that the manager has on his OvID taken measures at his own <br />expense to try and find a answer to the problem therefore, its duty of the committee to make <br />every effort available to try and arrive at some conclusive answers. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilmember Syring and seconded by Councilmember Otto awarding and accepting the <br />lowest quote submitted by Country Chrysler in the amount of $3,685.00 to include the trade-iJ <br />of the 1974 gold squad car as recommended by the finance committee.
