Memo to the City Council,Economic Development Authority,Planning Commission <br /> February 11,2003 Joint Meeting <br /> Page 2 <br /> 2000-2002 Strategic Industrial Marketing Plan <br /> Vision <br /> In order for the City to focus its industrial marketing efforts,the City adopted the 2000-2002 <br /> Strategic Industrial Marketing Plan. That Plan's vision is: <br /> "To be the light industrial hub for small to medium sizefirms in the northrtzt metro mgioa" <br /> Statement of Purpose <br /> The plan also established a process to attract growth oriented,light industrial business that increase <br /> and diversify the tax base, complement the existing industrial base, and guides clients through the <br /> site selection and development process. <br /> Marketing Focus <br /> The Plan focuses the City's marketing efforts on those companies in the following Standard <br /> Industrial Classification sectors: <br /> • Industrial Machinery <br /> • Fabricated Metal <br /> • Electronic Equipment <br /> These sectors were chosen as they compliment the City's current industrial composition, one of the <br /> • principles stated in the Statement of Purpose above. <br /> Key Client Requirements by Development Type (Matrix I) <br /> The client requirements for each type of development vary. The attached matrix illustrates the <br /> various client requirements and how important they may be based on the type of development. The <br /> types of developments include: <br /> • Class A Office/Business Park/Corporate Headquarters <br /> • Office Warehouse/Office Showroom <br /> • Mixed Use Industrial/Office/Institutional/Retail <br /> • Distribution Center <br /> • Industrial Park. <br /> Comparison of Key Industrial Client Requirements by City of Elk River Product <br /> Offering (Matrix 2) <br /> The attached matrix compares the City of Elk River's available industrial product offering(s) with <br /> the key client requirements. <br /> • <br />
