<br /> <br />The Elk River Vision <br />A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional <br />service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity <br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Item Number <br />3.1 <br />Agenda Section <br />General Business <br />Meeting Date <br />July 23, 2018 <br />Prepared by <br />Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description <br />Compensation Plan Follow-up <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, two adjustments to the Compensation Plan update approved on July 16, 2018. <br /> Senior Citizen Programmer position in 4N rather than 3N. <br /> Top pay for Administrative Assistant (fire) to be equivalent to prior pay plan. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />As the entries were being made to implement the new pay plan, two items were found that should be <br />adjusted. <br /> <br />The Senior Citizen Programmer position was reflected in pay grade 3N on the Positions and Pay Grades <br />table and it should have been in pay grade 4N. <br /> <br />One of staff’s goals in developing the pay plan was to ensure none of the position’s current employees <br />would be negatively impacted in pay. The Administrative Assistant position for the fire department is in <br />a pay grade in the new plan that has a top pay that is slightly lower than the previous pay plans top pay. <br />This was not recognized earlier because the employee is not yet at the top pay step. For the current <br />employee staff proposes to maintain the top pay of the previous pay plan, increased by any annual <br />adjustment given to all positions in the pay plan. The employee is eligible for the adjusted top pay with <br />2019 step increases. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />There would be a slight budget impact in 2019 that would be reflected in the 2019 budget. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> Updated Positions and Pay Grades <br /> <br />
