MEETING NOTES • ELK RIVER PLANNING COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING TUESDAY, APRIL 9, 2002 Members Present: Chair Pederson, Commissioners Anderson,Baker(arrived at 6:35 p.m.), Jenson, Mesich and Ropp Members Absent: Commissioner Franz Staff Present: Michele McPherson,Director of Planning;Scott Harlicker,Senior Planner 1. Call Meeting To Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof,the meeting of the Elk River Planning Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Pederson. 2. Election of Officers Director of Planning Michele McPherson opened the nominations for Chair of the Planning Commission. Commissioner Mesich nominated Mark Pederson to serve as Chair for another year. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Anderson. Having no other nominations, IIInominations were closed. UPON A VOICE VOTE, ALL VOTING AYE, COMMISSIONER PEDERSON WAS ELECTED CHAIR. Commissioner Pederson called for nominations for the position of Vice-Chair. Commissioner Mesich nominated Commissioner Ropp to serve as Vice-Chair.The motion was seconded by Commissioner Jenson. Having no other nominations,nominations were closed. UPON A VOICE VOTE,ALL VOTING AYE, COMMISSIONER ROPP WAS ELECTED VICE-CHAIR FOR THE NEXT YEAR. 2. Review Becker Proposal Paul Quarberg of Tollefson Development was present to review the latest changes to the subdivision proposal for the Becker property. A 3.8 acre area has been identified for a potential park. Mr.Quarberg indicated that Town and Country Homes,S.W.Wold,and Monarch Homes would construct the various dwelling types within the subdivision. The Commission discussed sidewalk connection between this parcel and Trott Brook Farms, wetland impacts, and design guidelines. Commissioner Baker stated that he would like to somehow control townhomes and did not feel that additional townhomes were needed in the City. III
