Memo to Planning Commission/CU 01-37 <br /> October 23,2001 <br /> Page 2 <br /> • a hair salon.The previous owner operated the hair salon for several years until they sold the <br /> home.However,it has been more than one year since the salon has been operated from this <br /> residence. According to the Zoning Code a conditional use permit expires after the <br /> authorized use ceases for more than 6 months.Therefore,Ms.Davis must apply for a new <br /> conditional use permit. <br /> Ms.Davis is the sole operator and there will be one chair.The hair styling service will be by <br /> appointment only and her hours of operation will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00PM.Hair styling <br /> will be the only service provided.The applicant is proposing to utilize the existing driveway <br /> to provide off-street parking.There is room for up to 4 cars in the driveway.Given that Ms. <br /> Davis is the only employee and there is only one chair,parking should not be a problem. <br /> The salon will be located in the basement; clients will enter through a basement door. A <br /> sidewalk connects the entrance to the driveway. <br /> Recommendation <br /> Staff recommends that the Planning Commission recommend approval of this request for a <br /> conditional use permit to allow a hair salon as a home occupation with the following <br /> conditions: <br /> 1. Hours of operation shall not exceed 10:00AM to 8:00PM <br /> 2. Signage shall be limited to 4 square feet and mounted on the wall of the home. <br /> • 3.
